The Rugged Tablet Market Is Booming Review
The tablet marketplace for customers has taken a nosedive, and does not appear poised to recover. But companies are buying tablets in increasing numbers, especially rugged ones and 2-in-1 apparatus, because they’re perfect for electronic transformation, the mill floor, for field support staff and for additional mobile business mobile programs. So concludes several recent studies.
First, check out the sagging consumer tablet marketplace. A recent IDC study, (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Tablet Tracker, discovered that the global pill market declined by 5 per cent over year in the next quarter, falling to 32.2 million worldwide.
A study by VDC Research, “The Global Market for Enterprise Tablets,” backs up IDC. It found that”consumer need for tablet computers has largely petered.” But that does not mean the tablet market is dead, since businesses are increasingly using them. The report states,”the chance in the enterprise–in particular for ruggedized devices–remains strong. Tablet use instances are emerging across many sectors, supporting a wide variety of applications, particularly in client or asset-facing workflows.”
The ruggedized tablet market is very strong, because these will be the devices frequently utilized in the field. The report found that the ruggedized tablet marketplace will likely total $882.3 million by 2023. The rugged tablet marketplace, the report found, is primarily composed of Windows 10 apparatus, although”Android is making in-roads across several industries…Android is becoming far more trusted and widespread in the enterprise.” As for form factors, the norm for ruggedized pills are those that are between 10 and 12.9 inches.
Also increasing in popularity are 2-in-1 apparatus, the report found. It notes,”At least seven companies today offer you 2-in-1 apparatus, with three providing rugged 2-in-1 devices.” The use of non-rugged consumer-level pills can also be pervasive in the venture, together with Apple, Microsoft, and Samsung the top suppliers. The report said it’s because they encourage cellular enterprise line of business (LoB) software. It notes,”cases of users whose programs often rely on tablets comprise factory workers, warehouse workers, field service technicians, police officers, EMTs, nurses/clinicians, flight-line aircraft employees, and lots of more.”
Ruggedized tablets and 2-in-1s are significant tools for business digital transformation, and also to help frontline, or firstline, employees. Putting better mobile programs from the hands of frontline workers has great impact. One Forbes Insight analysis found that”43% of executives in organizations with high levels of empowered firstline workers report outstanding progress in their digital transformation efforts, versus 21 percent of executives few digitally empowered workers.” Read more analytics in the Forbes Insight research and why mobile programs for firstline employees are the key to digital transformation.
